Anthology

The Ocean is the anchor and theme for this first Pen & Pier showcase anthology. From a lovecraftian massacre sparked by underwater office politics, to a flirtatious competition between pirate captains, to a great-grandmother confronting an aquatic terror, to a thoughtless gift being hurled into the sea. We asked our contributors to ponder the ocean and what we got in return did not disappoint. Fifteen authors and visual artists, both established and emerging, spun their yarns, responding to the call of the sea. Those yarns run the gamut of genres: sci-fi, and fantasy, horror and YA, can be found among others. The stories we received make us laugh, cry, and terrify us as we gather to ponder that seemingly endless watery expanse. The waves will greet you from the depth of emotional turmoil just as well as from an old canvas. Short stories are the bulk of the book, but you will also discover poems, a comic panel, photography, a painting, and a linocut. In short, the contributions of the Pen & Pier authors and artists are as diverse as the members of this group. Let them take you on a wild journey through their imaginations.
