What are your meetings like?
In 2025 we made our online meetings more diverse, with definite agendas for group critiques and reading practice. But it’s fine if someone wants to just show up and listen in — reading, critiquing, and having one’s work critiqued, are optional.
Our in-person meetings are informal. We talk about our writing, grab a bite of dinner, and write. Many of us are busy with families and jobs, so this is our dedicated weekly creative time.
From what I understand most of the meetings are online?
Our weekly online meetings have the most variety, and almost all of our discussion between meetings happens on Discord (cameras optional). But we have one online and one in-person meeting per week. Learn more and check out the calendar.
Do you have a mailing list?
Not at this time. Check out our Discord server or news page for announcements.
Is it free to join?
We do not charge a fee to join our events.
Does your group write nonfiction?
Some of our authors do, and we accept nonfiction in our anthology, but Pen & Pier was founded as a fiction writers’ group.
