This Fall we’ll meet in Grover Beach and Oceano for our annual Writing Retreat. This year’s theme, “a tidal wave of inspiration,” is inspired by our 2025 anthology and will feature:
- Writing time
- Word sprints
- Camaraderie among authors
- Bookbinding demo
- Potluck lunch
- Beach bonfire
Schedule
Friday
5pm–8pm at SLO Life Studio & Mercantile
Before we write, we’ll spend an evening learning to make our own books in a hands-on book binding demo by Katlyn of Book & Bottle Crafts.
Saturday

8am–1pm at Banner Coffee
We’ve reserved a high-top community table for writing and writing discussion. Bring your laptop, pen and paper, or whatever means you have to craft your story. Support local and enjoy breakfast/brunch and fresh-brewed coffee.
1–6pm (Venue to be announced before leaving Banner)
We’ll move on for burgers and potluck side dishes, then continue our writing sprints. We’ll also hear from local author Kevin Carr about marketing his books.
6:30–10pm
After dinner we’ll hit the beach for our traditional bonfire and word burn. Cast your doubts, negative thoughts, and inner critics to the flames!

Sunday
10am (tentative)
For those who can continue the weekend, we’ll host a goodbye brunch at Li’l Bits in Grover Beach.
